GTM Server-Side

Server-Side Tracking Partners

Setting up GTM server-side tagging requires hosting a server container somewhere — typically on Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or a dedicated provider. CJ has partnered with two managed hosting providers, Stape and Addingwell, both of which offer pre-built CJ tags so advertisers can deploy server-to-server affiliate tracking without managing cloud infrastructure directly.

Stape

Stape is a hosting provider for server-side Google Tag Manager (sGTM) that helps companies manage tags, improve website performance, and reduce reliance on third-party servers. Its infrastructure runs on Google Cloud Platform, with container isolation handled through Google Kubernetes Engine. Stape offers hosting starting at $20/month including logs, built-in monitoring and debugging tools, and a library of "power-ups" and tag templates. For CJ advertisers, Stape provides a dedicated CJ tag that handles pageview events (storing the cjevent URL parameter in a cje cookie) and conversion events (sending requests to the CJ postback URL).

Addingwell

Addingwell delivers fully-managed tagging servers for Google Tag Manager server-side. The platform emphasizes guided setup, multi-region deployment, and built-in monitoring through its TagHealth functionality, which lets advertisers monitor the integrity of CJ tags and key events such as purchases. Addingwell provides plug-and-play templates for CJ advertisers, with a streamlined integration process that does not require development resources, and its open-source CJ Affiliate Tag is maintained by Addingwell under the Apache 2.0 license.

Choosing Between Them

Both partners solve the same core problem — hosting a GTM server container without requiring you to manage GCP directly — and both ship CJ-specific tags for affiliate conversion tracking. The right choice depends on your team's existing tooling, region requirements, pricing model, and preference for guided versus self-service configuration. See each provider's documentation for setup specifics.
